Operations
Department "Agricultural Operations"
The ongoing provision of land that meets the requirements for conducting field experiments is the main responsibility of this department.
All compensation areas are managed by this department and prepared for experiments in the years ahead.
The crops grown on these fields include sugar beets, winter rape, silage maize, corn maize and various cereal crops. By engaging in seed propagation with triticale, winter wheat and spring barley, the Agricultural Experiment Station also plays a role in preserving state culture.
Maintenance of the station's premises (grounds, lawns, trees) is another responsibility of the "operations" department. The station also has its own workshop, where a farm machine technician works to maintain and service the station's modern vehicle fleet and to adapt equipment to the special needs of experimental research.
On-Farm Research
In coordination with the experiments department, selected fields are used to test new equipment in practice (StripTill, variety trials) and to experiment with site management (variable sowing, fertilization,...). These experiments are summarized by the term "on-farm research."
